The Story Behind The CKD Bangle Bracelet™ - G Series.
The  CKD Bangle Bracelet™ - G Series is a custom, handmade Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) bracelet. The unique, colorful bracelet was designed as a teaching aid to help educate the community about chronic kidney disease, its growing impact on society and the need for more living donors.  The initial design was made for Glenda V. Roberts by her husband, Cal Sturdivant, to demonstrate his devotion and love as her life/support coach. The bracelet can be worn by anyone, including patients, nurses, supporters, donors and loved ones to demonstrate their support for individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Profits are used to support the OUI Works Living Donor Assistance program, which is dedicated to educating the community and providing assistance to living donors.

Each bracelet is made from recycled materials supporting the OUI Works “PD Lifestyle Management Recycle Program”. Each color represents a color which corresponds to the percentage of dialysate, when used in various combinations as prescribed by an authorized healthcare professional, impact the degree to which fluids, electrolytes and other metabolic substances are balanced within the body during the treatment of an individual performing peritoneal dialysis (PD).  The different colors, (yellow = 1.5%, green = 2.5%, red = 4.25% and purple = 7.5%) are used in various combinations and represents the percentage of dialysate solutions needed to help the patient maintain optimum health by performing dialysis functions that are normally done by the kidneys.
